volunteer tuition work off program
In order to serve as many children from our community as possible, Raw Learning allows parents or their substitutes to volunteer in whatever capacity possible (teacher, responsible adult, cleaning, marketing, grant writing, supplies procurement, etc) at the rate of $10/ hour discounted off of tuition.
Volunteers are welcome to bring their unenrolled children to Raw Learning with them. They will solely be responsible for the children and will need to pay the $10 (+ $5 for each additional child who is walking, maximum of $20) supplies fee, or have it deducted from their credits.
All available volunteer hours will be split evenly between volunteers.
Volunteers must make every effort to attend all volunteer meetings to maintain consistency when working with people at Raw Learning. Meetings take place every Friday from 3:00-4:30.
compulsory attendance laws
If a student doesn't attend Raw Learning for 990 hours or more per year, they will not be in compliance with the compulsory attendance laws of Virginia (Virginia Code § 22.1-254). If this might be the case the family could consider filing their Notice of Intent to homeschool by August 15th, before the beginning of the school year. Go to www.vahomeschooler.org for more information.
homeschoolers
Homeschoolers are very welcome to come by Raw Learning at any time. The fee for preplanned family attendance is $10 for the first child and $5 for subsequent children up to a maximum of $20. For folks who would like to drop in, the fee is set at $12 for the first child and $6 for subsequent children, up to a maximum of $30. If any of the fees mentioned above would cause a financial burden that would prohibit attendance, please contact Gleamer to make alternative financial arrangements. Homeschooling families who join us for the day (or just part of it) enjoy all of the resources, non-compulsory classes and field trips offered. All ages are welcome. Please attend a parent meeting on Fridays from 3:00-4:30 prior to coming to familiarize yourself with our policies.
If you wish to drop off your child(ren), please see the tuition fees above. An enrollment application and interview must be previously completed if the children will be left in Raw Learning's care.
